The world is strange! I love sketching and painting outdoors as a way to study and appreciate the beauty found in life. There's nothing quite like the magic of using real materials to capture a real life scene, without the safety of an Undo button. Painting with watercolours comes with many valuable lessons about patience, observation, relinquishing control, and embracing the "happy accidents".
My work in 2D Animation for Film/TV requires much precision and control when drawing. Watercolours has been an ongoing journey in letting go of control and staying loose with my art. Don't paint exactly what you see, paint how it feels to be there.
I constantly remind myself that the goal isn't to make a perfect final product, but rather to simply enjoy the adventure of creating art.
Go into the world. See things. Capture them with scribbles and splashes of paint.
That's art.
