Jon loves art, story-telling, and seeking out the beauty in both mother nature and human nature. He strives to better understand and interpret our world through his art.
Since 2005, Jon has worked in the Film & TV Animation industry for a wide variety of studios, projects and collaborations. He wears many hats, and can assume the role of animator, designer, storyboard artist, writer, director, puppet maker and occasional bad actor. Primarily working in 2D Animation, while also dabbling in the world of stop-motion, literature illustrations, live caricatures and more!
The power of art is real, whether it be a single image or a fable told around a campfire. Art can evoke deep emotions within us, fuel our courage to take action, simplify the most complex ideas, or inspire us in ways we never expected.
The power of art can either be yielded for good or exploited for evil. Jon's underlying goal is to use the gift of art to add some joy and positivity into the world, even if it only reaches one person at a time.
In 2006, the four Affolter brothers founded Foreshadow Films, a Vancouver-based production company focusing on original content for film, TV and the web. Collaboration is key among the brothers. In addition to their own productions, the Affolter brothers have contributed to a number of film and TV series as writers, storyboard artists, animators, and more. This includes shows like Travelers, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Bob’s Burgers, Rick & Morty, and their clients include companies such as Netflix, Warner Brothers, Hulu, Cartoon Network, and many more.
